Clifford Jay Call sadly passed away October 6, 2022, in his Tampa, Florida home. Originally from Huntington Park, CA, Cliff relocated to Tampa in August of 1988. His tenacious ability to easily meet and make friends has long been his legacy in which we will sorely miss. During the early years in Tampa he would frequent Denning’s Bar in North Tampa in which he has an entourage of lifelong friends. He was coined the “water bug” because of his love of being around and/or in any body of water which also included the pond in his community. Yes the adventure to swim with the alligators in that pond. When he was out joking and having fun he would say “ya baby!” Even when he got to the other side of that pond swimming with the gators, you heard “Ya Baby!” Such a unique and fun loving person that anyone that he met he would remember their name and of course in his later years he met many at the community pool.
He loved being outdoors especially hunting, camping, and being poolside with his cold beer in hand. He was an avid sports player when he was younger and very competitive throughout his life. He enjoyed watching any sport on television and he would call to chat with friends during half time to talk sports. He was very proud of his sports cars which included a 1981 (C3 era) Corvette. He had a passion for excelling in his job in which he did 30 years driving for Cemex. Any free time he had he was at the community pool with his favorite Natural Light or Coors Light in hand with the suntan lotion in the other. He would get the most beautiful tan that he could have been part of those Coppertone commercials with his younger days beautiful blond hair flowing. Because he spent so much time there, the community pool is now coined as “ Cliffie’s Pool.” He has been great about always kept in touch with friends and family throughout the United States. He had an infectious laugh and knew how to live the best life. Cliff is survived by family and many friends throughout the United States especially back in his home area in California. In the spirit of Cliff’s final wishes, we will be having a memorial at his community pool in New Tampa at 1pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022. The time for remembrance will be around 2 pm.
Note: Friends in California will be doing a separate memorial which you can look for those future details on Facebook.
