Cora Lee Nipper, age 93, passed away on September 29, 2025. She was born on August 31, 1932, in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of George and Bronnie Veenstra. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Cora Lee was loved by all that knew her and she was available to help anyone in need! She only completed the 8th grade but she was the most capable woman anyone knew.
She worked with her husband, Johnnie, with a tractor mowing service for large businesses. They were "equally matched". She also worked at the Singleton Shrimp Co. where she was in charge of quality control. She worked for many years at the Thatcher Glass Co., where again she was in charge of quality control.
"Grannie", as she was known by all, cooked everywhere she went. She loved to go to her Grandson Glen's hunting camp in Georgia where she cooked for everyone there. It was a business camp so there were many. In between breakfast and supper she would head to the woods herself. She loved hunting hogs, turkeys and deer. Just being in the woods was an ethereal experience for her. Most of all, she loved all her grandchildren. She would take those old enough to hunt with her.
She was so talented. When anyone needed a costume for a play; she would make her own pattern and then complete the project beautifully. Once when I was very young and worked at Sears she made me an elegant dress from the 1850's complete with bussel. l won the contest for the most beautiful and accurate dress. There was nothing she could not do!
There will never be another Grannie.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Johnnie Franklin Nipper, and her sister, Vivian Snyder.
She is survived by her daughter, Portia Grizzaffe (Charlie), and her grandsons, Greg Grizzaffe (Sandra), Glen Grizzaffe (Heather), and Charlie Grizzaffe III (Nanci). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alyssa, Savannah, Cole, Cameron, Portia, Alicio, and Caleb, and her great-great-grandchildren, Isabella Monet and Presley.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm followed by a funeral service at 12:30 pm on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, 12690 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. Interment at Ehren Cemetery, 7135 Ehren Cemetery Road, Land O' Lakes, FL 34639.
