Daniel was born in Picnic, Florida to D. S. and Mildred Smith on March 17, 1935. He went to school in Brandon, Florida. He married Sara Lanier on June 6, 1954. He graduated from University of Tampa with a Masters of Education. He worked as a Policeman for the City of Tampa, for 22 years and the City of Temple Terrace. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves.
Daniel is preceded in death by Sara Smith, his wife; his parents, D. S. and Mildred Smith, and his brother, Wayne E. Smith
Daniel is survived by (his son, Daniel S. Smith, III (Joan), his daughter, Lisa Ugo (Michael Warren), his brother, Robert “Bob” Lamar Smith, Grandchildren, Jason Smith (Jennifer), Sara Ugo, Vincent Ugo (Katherine), Aleah Ugo Masut (Matthew); Great-Grandchildren, Danny, Ryleigh, Elaina, and soon to be born great-grandson.
Memorials may be given to Belmont Baptist Church.
