Della spent her youth in Pierson and DeLand and her adult life mainly in Tampa. After retirement, Della and her husband, Lee, moved up to the mountains, a place they had loved and visited for many years before eventually making it their home. She called it her happy place. That's where Della wanted to be.
Della was known for her style. She was a blue-jean girl at heart, but she always made sure her lipstick was on and her earrings matched her outfit. She loved people. Two of her favorite sayings were, “You can’t have too many friends,” and “I love everyone. I may not like their ways, but I do love them.”
Della was involved in many civic activities in Tampa. She was a lifetime member of the JAYCEETTES and was actively involved in the Miss Tampa Pageant and various civic activities, including fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. After moving to the mountains, Della remained active in fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Macon TRACS — Therapeutic Riding for Adults and Children’s Success.
She was loved by so many people in the mountains, including her friends at church, the bank, restaurants, and the flea market. She never met a stranger, and if she did, they weren’t strangers for long. Della loved all her family. Her great-grandchildren, Bristol and Bryson, held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her son, Daryl Womack; daughter, Shelly Webb; son-in-law, Joe Webb; daughter-in-law, Mary Womack; grandchildren, Damian, Arielle, and Erica; great-granddaughter, Bristol; great-grandson, Bryson; grandson-in-law, Joe Hale; soon-to-be grandson-in-law, Andrew Christiansen; and countless friends whose lives were touched by her love, laughter, faith, and friendship.
Della will be laid to rest in Florida, where her journey began, by her beloved husband, Lee.
