
Mike was born on November 7, 1946, in Fairfield, Alabama, to Wilmer Daniel Freeman and Velma Irene Freeman. He attended Fairfield High School. In 1970, Mike moved to Tampa, where he built a career as a self-employed contractor. He worked in the field for many years until his retirement.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer Daniel Freeman and Velma Irene Freeman, and his brother, Joseph Paul Freeman.
He is survived by his brother, David (Rhonda) Freeman; his sister, Linda Jolley; and his sister-in-law, June Freeman. He also leaves behind his nieces Brittany (Matt) Lindsey, Crystal (Drew) Charcandy, and Deborah Voizin; his nephews Nicholas Dietz and Marty Freeman; and his great-nephews Austin Voizin, Colby Freeman, and Andrew Charcandy. Mike is also survived by lifelong Tampa friends, Tor and Barbie Curran.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 5, 2026, at 4:00 PM at The Church at Cahaba Bend in Helena, Alabama, with Pastor Patrick Friday officiating. For Mike’s friends in Tampa, the service will be live-streamed on Linda Jolley’s Facebook page.
Mike will be remembered for his love of football and for the deep Alabama roots that always kept him connected to home. He touched many lives with his compassion and his unwavering support for family and friends. Mike left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
