

Janet Lee Elswick passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, while in the compassionate care of Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida. Her family is deeply grateful for the kindness, support, and gentle care shown to Janet and to them during her final days. Her mind is now at peace, free from the burden of Alzheimer’s disease.
Jan was born in Kentucky to Edna Mae Jackson on September 18, 1944. She was preceded in death by her mother and her three siblings: Kenneth Akers, Roger Akers, and Linda Akers Holloway. While living in Homestead, Florida, she met the love of her life, Dennis Elswick, and they were married on October 5, 1963. Together they lived in Indiana and Ohio before moving to Florida in 1970, where they made their home.
Jan will be lovingly remembered for her laughter, her love of dancing, and the deep love and fierce pride she had for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
Jan is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Dennis Elswick; her two daughters, Diana Astorquiza (Harold) and Karen Hart (Sam); her four grandchildren, Sara Astorquiza Slowey (Robert), Rachel Astorquiza, Harrison Astorquiza, and Zachary Hart (Kiersten); and her great-grandson, Noah Slowey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Janet Elswick to Melech House of LifePath Hospice in Temple Terrace.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club, 200 Inverness Avenue, Temple Terrace, FL 33617.
