

Judith “Judy” Woods Brown, age 79, of Temple Terrace, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was born August 26, 1946, in New Albany, Indiana, the daughter of Martin and Naomi Woods.
Judy graduated from New Albany High School and went on to become a proud alumna of Indiana University, where she earned a degree in Education with a minor in Art. Her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds led her to a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher, librarian, and director of early childhood development. Her gentle spirit, creativity, and commitment to learning touched the lives of countless children and families.
In retirement, Judy remained active in her community through her leadership role with the MS Society of Tampa, where she worked to support and advocate for individuals living with multiple sclerosis. A gifted artist, she continued to share her talents by creating heartfelt, handmade greeting and get-well cards, original drawings and paintings, and hand-sewn, custom keepsake teddy bears. An avid collector, her whimsical teddy bear collection brought smiles to all who knew her.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald Martin Woods.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 57 years, Stanley Owen Brown, Jr.; her son, Matthew O. Brown; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Romagni (Esteban); grandson, Phillip J. Romagni; sister-in-law, Lorraine Woods; niece, Susan Johnson; and nephew, Shawn Woods.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, 12690 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Alexandria Episcopal Church, 502 Druid Hills Road, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. A committal service will follow at 1:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Flowers will also be gratefully received at the funeral home address listed above.
Judy will be remembered for her compassion, creativity, and the joy she brought into the lives of others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
