It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Keven Woodard, age 61, on July 12, 2026 in Temple Terrace, Florida. Keven passed away peacefully surrounded by the love, prayers, and unwavering support of his family and friends. Despite the darkness of that night, a light shone through the halls of Pepin Heart Institute where over one-hundred loved ones and staff lined the halls to honor him as an organ donor. On Sunday morning, a newly winged angel heard singing and clapping rising up from Temple Terrace United Methodist Church where he spent his life giving all he had to those around him.
Keven began his life in 1964, born to mother Joann Woodard and father Robert Woodard who served as the mayor of Temple Terrace for 8 years. From a young age, Keven knew the significance of giving back to the community and he helped in any way he could. He graduated from King High School in 1982 and went on to earn a degree in Engineering and Technology from The University of South Florida in 1987 where he met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with.
On June 1, 1991 friends and family gathered together at TTUMC as Keven entered holy matrimony with Kimberly Batz. Together, they shared a life of friendship, compassion, love and joy. Kim will never forget his endearing sense of humor, kindness and passion for life. Together they raised two beautiful children and built a home that was never empty of laughter. Adam Robert was born in 1995 and Shannon Rose completed the family of four in 1997. Keven’s beloved grandson, “Bobby” Gene Bollinger, recently added even more joy in 2024 and shares his love of trains, fish, and animals. Shannon is due with his second grandson, Ryder Lee Bollinger, this October.
Keven loved his Alma Mater, the University of South Florida. He excitedly worked for the Alumni Association where was involved in Homecoming parades, Bullarny, made long-lasting friendships, and brought his children into the fandom for the USF Bulls.
Keven spent 9 years working as Director of Senior Affairs at the Lightfoot Community Center in Temple Terrace. Ask nearly any senior citizen within the city and they will recount the warm comfort and cheer Keven brought to the center. Whether he was decorating a pumpkin for every holiday, dressing up for the Fourth of July, or organizing elaborate Olympic games, his laughter could always be heard throughout the building.
Keven, with his strong faith in God, served anywhere he was needed at his church. His work included filming services, helping with the foster program, ushering, helping lead youth and children’s programs, hosting dozens of students from across the globe, serving on church committees, and of course, singing and dancing to his favorite worship songs encouraging everyone around him to celebrate with him.
God’s beautiful Earth never went unnoticed by Keven, especially all the creatures under the sea. His family will miss his vigilant eye during boating trips - he was the best at catching bay scallops and spiny lobsters in the Florida Keys. Keven leaves behind countless fish tanks, unfinished puzzles, and a kitchen that still smells like his chocolate chip cookies. The living room will continue to echo with the sounds of cheering, his voice joined by his daughter's as they root together — one from Heaven, one still on earth — for their favorite Tampa Bay teams: the USF Bulls, Buccaneers, Lightning, and Rays. Keven spent his last days with his family, playing with his grandson, and celebrating the Fourth of July continuing his father’s love for country and community.
Keven will always be remembered with much love by his large church family and the community. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kimberly Woodard; his son, Adam Woodard, and daughter-in-law, J'aime; his daughter, Shannon Bollinger, son-in-law, Hunter, his grandson, Bobby, and soon-to-be grandson Ryder. He also leaves behind his mother, JoAnn Woodard; his older brother, Robert Woodard Jr.; his mother-in-law, Joann Batz; and brothers and sisters-in-law along with his niece and nephew.
Although Keven's life on earth has come to an end, he has entered into the loving arms of his Lord. He is reunited in Heaven with those who went before him: his father, Robert Woodard Sr.; his father-in-law, Leonard Batz; his Aunt, Ernestine Belstrom; and his sister-in-law, Victoria Batz.
Our hearts will carry the ache of missing him for the rest of our lives, but we carry, too, the comfort of knowing he is at rest — close by, and forever watching over the family and friends he cherished so deeply.
Visitation will be held at Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, 5030 E. Busch Blvd, Temple Terrace, FL 33617, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 12 pm - 1 pm, followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 1 pm.
