After joining the Air Force as a nurse in 1957 and traveling through Europe, she retired in 1967 as a Captain in order to start a family. She enjoyed many years of running the hardware store with Al, playing golf at Temple Terrace Country Club and doing cross-stitch and crochet. She also loved just spending family time together on all of those fishing trips.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 ½ years, Alan Anderson Collins.
Survivors include her son, Alan R. Collins (Rhonda); daughter, Lani Collins Carter (David); grandchildren, Harli and Wyatt Carter; and great-grandchild, Railynn Mathis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Monday, April 13, 2026 at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, 12690 N 56th St, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
