Mahin “Mimi” Fatomeh Vahabi Cordova, a teacher, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, resident of Tampa, Florida, passed peacefully with her family surrounding her on September 18, 2018 at the age of 80.
Mimi is survived by her sisters, Toorandokht Vahabi Tehrani (Hossein), and Monir Vahabi Tehrani; her children, Mehrdad Sofastaii Jozdani (Marlene), Mehran Sofastaee (Homeyra); daughter-in-law, Diane Sofastaii; grandchildren Yasaman, Leilah, Hilary, Mallory and Kayvan. Mimi is predeceased by her son, Mohsen Sofastaii, mother, Zahra Rostambake, father, Farajollah Vahabi Tehrani, sister Heshmat and brother Parviz Vahabi Tehrani.
Mahin was born in Tehran, Iran on August 15, 1938. She attended University of Tehran and taught mathematics for over 20 years with her last position in Esfahan, Iran at Shakyh Bahaii High School. In the US, she was a full-time nanny and worked in the medical field as an assistant nurse at Palm Garden, and Sales Clerk.
Mahin migrated over to the United States in 1983 from Esfahan, Iran to be with her three sons.
Mimi was a devoted and proud mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved cooking good food, wine, books, nature, swimming, teaching, jeopardy, wheel of fortune, laughing and loving. Despite her physical ailments, she fought and worked hard for her freedom and self-sufficiency. She exemplified what it means to be a strong, fierce and independent woman. She had a heart of gold, would do anything for family and friends but most of all she was a fighter.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in Tampa, Florida, destination to be announced, exactly 40 days after her death, October 28, 2018, Sunday.
