ALLEE, Marie Hein Knight, 92, of Temple Terrace, passed away peacefully November 20th in Tampa. Born to Charles L. (Buck) & Helen R. Hein Sr. and raised in Glen Burnie Maryland. She was the eldest of 3 children, Florence (Fuzzy) Rumenap d. 6/30/12 and Charles L. (Murphy) Hein Jr. Her early years were filled with riding horses and learning to shoot guns. Interestingly, she was not allowed to own a bike as her Father thought them too dangerous. She grew up playing sports, traveling to a World Fair, and caring for her horse, raccoon, and dog. She was exceedingly proud to work as secretary for her Father’s business (Hein Brother’s Coal & Oil in Glen Burnie, MD). A Temple Terrace resident since 1956, she was an avid golfer, substitute teacher at several Tampa schools, part-time model for a local department store, but found her greatest joy in being a Grand/Great Grandmother. She cherished teaching pre-school children at Safety Land School in Tampa. In later years she enjoyed taking cruises with her brother Murphy and traveling to Europe with her Son & Family. She was a sun-worshiper and took pride in her physical strength. She was quick to remind everyone “if you snooze, you lose” & “getting old is not for sissies”. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church in Temple Terrace. Preceding her in death were husbands Robert Knight Jr. & David Allee, her daughter Adrianna Knight McKenzie, Grand-daughters Callie McKenzie & Cyndi Allee Pate. She leaves behind a multitude of family & neighborhood friends. Family: Sons, Robert (Bobby) Knight III (Sue), Donnie Allee (Martha), Son-in-Law Don McKenzie. Beloved Grandchildren: Alison Knight Conley (Brendan), Robert Knight IV (Leigh), Charles McKenzie (Robin) Jessica McKenzie, Rachael & Samantha Allee, Sarah, Danny & Chrissy Pate, Great Grandchildren Robert (Quint) Knight V, Beatrix Knight. She adored her special nieces & nephews, Judy, Jayne, Joan, and Joey (Rumenap) and Carla, Cindy, Carl, Kirk (Hein). Special thanks & love is extended to the caring staff at Palm Gardens of Tampa. In honor of Marie’s life, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. (78% research/16% Fund Raising/6% admin)
