Phyllis Meebold Rabb transitioned to her eternal home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the age of 86. She is survived by her three children (Steve, Cheryl, and Lisa), seven beautiful grandchildren (Kevin, Connor, Kelsey, Lauren, Sarah, Sydney and Brian), two great grandchildren (Ezra and Eleanor), and her extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Richard and sisters Jean, Doris, and Lucille.
Born on October 29, 1938 to Charles and Rachel Worrell Meebold at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida, Phyllis grew up in the First United Methodist Church and graduated from Palm Beach High School, Palm Beach Community College, and Florida State University.
A Christian Education leader in the Florida United Methodist Conference, Phyllis touched many lives at Trinity United Methodist Church (UMC) in Palm Beach Gardens, First UMC of West Palm Beach, First UMC of Winter Park, Big Bend UMC, Temple Terrace UMC and across the Florida Conference where she was a trainer and keynote speaker at conference gatherings.
Phyllis brought light and laughter to her friends and family and left an indelible mark on the world through her love of children, not only her own, but her career as a Christian educator and innovator. She was a pioneer in the area of tactile learning and believed hands-on instruction was the way to both a child's heart and mind. With her constant happy spirit and contagious laugh she guided the souls of children from one learning experience to the next, quietly encouraging along the way.
Phyllis was a living example of the love of Christ to everyone she met, embracing new friends and old with warmth, hugs and humor. She will be remembered for her deep faith, her laugh out loud spirit, her clever poetry, her ability to make mundane moments fun, and for her most prized possession, her family, who will seek to live up to the wonderful example she set.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, April 25th, 3 pm, at Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, 5030 E Busch Blvd. Temple Terrace Florida, 33617.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, Mission Outreach, in honor of her life of service.
