

Ramesh Uttamchand Chitalia, age 86, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Ramesh was born April 20, 1935 in Bombay, India. He was the eldest brother to Suresh Chitalia (Hansa), Pushpa Gandhi (Shashikant), Jyoti Chitalia, Yogesh Chitalia (Usha).
Ramesh is survived by his wife of 63 years, Padma Chitalia; children Priti Doshi (Prakash), Niti Conway (John), and John Chitalia (Mona); 7 Grandchildren: Minal Aguilar (Hector), Ameet Doshi (Irene), Pranay Doshi, Sean Conway, Juliana Conway, Neha Chitalia, Milan Chitalia; 2 Great-Grandchildren: Sienna Doshi-Perdomo, Serena Aguilar.
Ramesh grew up in the Matunga area of Bombay, where he became an attorney and worked towards his doctorate. He also studied Russian language and literature. Ramesh immigrated to the USA in August 1970, initially living in Pennsylvania before settling in Wilmington, Delaware where he started working for Laird, Bissell & Meeds. Although the company went through several mergers and acquisitions, (Dean Witter, Dean Witter Reynolds, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter), he remained with the same company for his entire career. Ramesh, Padma and John, moved to Tampa in 1986 where he lived until passing. Reamsh retired in 1997, as the Vice President of Credit.
True to his generous nature, Ramesh was instrumental in helping many families start a new life in America.
Ramesh was heavily involved in the Jain Society of Tampa Bay and instrumental in the November 2008 construction of the Shikharbandi Jain Temple in Tampa.
Ramesh loved travelling the world with his family including trips to England, China, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Egypt and cruises around the Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii.
