Sam was born in Williamsport, Pa. to Harmon and Ella Wertman on 09/20/1954. He went to school in Jacksonville, FL. He married Jeannie Wertman on 04/19/1980 in Jacksonville, FL.
He worked as a Superintendent for Nelson Construction for 30+ years. He was involved in Little League, Fast Pitch Softball and Music Programs. He coached his children, Misty, Samantha and Mandy in Softball; as well as grandson, Tyler in baseball. He supported his grandson, Tyler, in his numerous Jazz Music organizations.
Sam is preceded in death by his Father, Harmon, Mother, Ella, Brother Don and Sister Madelyn.
Sam is survived by Wife Jeannie, Daughters Misty Ben Khafed, Samantha Smith with her Husband Travis Smith, and Mandy Tipton with her Husband Curry Tipton. Grandsons Tyler Wertman with his Partner Maressa Pirro, Sami Ben Khafed, Travis Smith Jr., Jayden Ervin and Granddaughter Elizabeth Smith. Along with many loving family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday November 2nd at Blount & Curry with Bill Hinson, officiating. The arrangements are by Blount & Curry.
