Shirley "Cheri" Ann Escue

Cheri, lovingly known as “Honey” to those who knew and loved her, was a beloved wife, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many. She was a joyful, friendly, and thoughtful soul whose sincere love of life brought warmth and happiness wherever she went. Above all, Cheri was a prayerful woman with a deep love of God and a strong, unwavering faith that guided her throughout her life.

Cheri was born in Charleston, West Virginia, in 1944 and graduated from Charleston High School in 1961. She spent many years working at her mother’s beauty school while raising her children and building a life centered around family, friendship, and community. Cheri enjoyed being involved with the Order of the Eastern Star and loved spending time with friends through her bridge clubs.

In 1977, Cheri moved to Tampa, Florida, where she continued to make memories and friendships that would last a lifetime. She worked for Gold Cup Coffee Service for nine years. After marrying her devoted husband, Ed, Cheri moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where the two shared many happy years together.

Family was always at the heart of Cheri’s life. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved watching her family grow and was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she found comfort and strength in prayer and in her relationship with God. She also enjoyed traveling and experiencing all that life had to offer.

Cheri spent the final six years of her life in Leesburg, Florida. True to who she was, everywhere Cheri went, she made a friend. Her kindness, easy smile, genuine interest in others, and welcoming spirit made people feel comfortable and cared for. She had a special way of making those around her feel valued.

Cheri will be remembered for her beautiful heart, her warmth, her laughter, her faith, and the happiness she brought into the lives of so many. She lived with an appreciation for the simple joys of life and gave her love freely and sincerely. Cheri was a prayerful person. Her deep faith in God was a quiet but lasting part of her life, and she carried that faith with her through both joyful and difficult times.

Though she will be deeply missed, Cheri’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends and in the countless lives she touched along the way. Her legacy is one of love, friendship, family, faith, and a life lived with joy. Those who knew her can take comfort in knowing that her faith was precious to her and that she is now at peace in the presence of the God she loved.

Rest peacefully, Honey. You will be loved and remembered always.

Cheri was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Bryan Cook.

Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, Harold Edward Escue; her daughters, Michele Davis and Angela Chillura (Frank); her stepchildren, Shawnda Kyle (Jesse) and Travis Escue; and her grandchildren, Joseph Tucker (Liz), Megan Davis, Steven Chillura, Julianna Lucchese (Josh), Joseph Chillura, Marissa Chillura, and Francesca Chillura. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Hailey Tucker, Wyatt Tucker, and Xavier Jean-Charles.

Services will be private. Interment will take place in St. Albans, West Virginia.
