Bettie worked for First National Bank, later Extraco Bank, in Temple for 21 years. She began attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1967, where she was active in Bible class and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). Her faith and church community remained an important part of her life, and she attended her final church service at Immanuel on September 20, 2026.
