Carmalita Joyce Linson (Candy) passed away on January 16, 2022, at Baylor Scott White Hospice, Temple, Texas. Born on June 14, 1930, Candy lost her parents before age five and lived with her maternal aunt. At age seven, her paternal aunt, Ethel Tiemann, gave Candy a loving home. Candy graduated from Cleveland High School, St. Louis, Missouri, creating lifelong friendships with classmates, Jean, Eleanor, and Louise. She married Paul Linson on September 23, 1949. Candy was an excellent homemaker; full of creativity. She loved sewing, needlepoint, and crafting. In 1965, Paul and Candy moved to southern Illinois to start a successful grocery business. In 1979, they sold the stores and retired to realize one of their dreams; traveling across America. In 1981, they moved to Key Largo to complete Candy's dream of living in a coastal, tropical location. Candy loved entertaining friends and family in the Keys and learned to cook an assortment of ocean fare. She also became a league bowler. Paul and Candy survived Hurricane Andrew and afterward relocated to Central Florida. In 2018, Candy moved to Temple, Texas, to live near family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Linson; mother and father, Theodore and Louise Harris; and aunt and uncle Ethel and Herman Tiemann. Candy is survived by her daughters Janis Graskewicz and Pamela Jannise; her grandchildren, Michelle Bracewell, Jon Louis Graskewicz, and Nick McCubbins; her great-grandchildren, Brooke, Wyatt, Lucas, and Rowen; and her great-great-grandchildren, Oliver and Theodore.
A private service will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, Texas, on Friday January 21, 2022, at 2 p.m. Her cremated remains will be interred next to Paul at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, Florida, on Monday, March 7, 2022, at 11 a.m. graveside. All are welcome to attend.
