Earnest Ray Carroll graciously went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30 after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He was born October 1, 1920 in Pidcoke, Texas to William and Lillie Belle Carroll.
Mr. Carroll proudly served in the U.S. Navy from August 7, 1942 until December 1945. While bravely serving in WWII, he was stationed in Honolulu, HI after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He married Joyce C. Cosper, June 22, 1947 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage with the love of his life. He was a carpenter and crafstman by trade and diligently worked his entire life in the industry. He worked commerically for Barsh Construction and Cloud Construction for several years and crafted several residential homes throughout his life. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local Union of Temple. Mr. Carroll was a steadfast member of First Assembly of God Crossroads Church of Belton and served on the board during his longtime association with the church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Carroll of Temple; three sons, Billy Carroll and wife, Mary Helen, Ronald Carroll and wife, Carol, of Temple, Mark Carroll and wife, Tressia of Belton; two daughters, Teresa Schwartz Carroll of Temple, and Cathy Carroll Tracy and husband, Tim, of North Richland Hills. One sister, Mary Grimstead of Abilene; Eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by eight siblings.
He was a loving father, brother, son, and friend to many. He blessed many lives during his humble yet, gracious life and will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be 5-7p.m., Sunday, June 2, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Temple.
