Floyd was born March 15, 1931 in Bell County, Texas, to Floyd Henry and Ruby Lee Honeycutt. He graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Texas. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. He met the love of his life, Lela, at Chathams Drive-Inn where she was working as a carhop, and they were married on October 22, 1963, in Phoenix City, AL. The couple made their home in Temple, Texas for the next 56 years, where Floyd worked as a nursing assistant at the VA Hospital. Their family grew with the birth of Lisa Diann on September 18, 1964, and then Melinda Joyce on May 21, 1968.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lela Honeycutt, daughter Cathy Relf, and granddaughter, Maigan Ferstl.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Wofford of Temple, Melinda Ferstl of Corpus Christi, Becky Dickey and husband Freddie of Houston; grandchildren, Robert, Justin, Jacob, Zachary, Nicholas, Christian Ferstl; Seth Wofford and wife Ashley, Mikayla Wofford, Hannah Wofford, and Crystal Relf Garcia and many other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
A visitation for Floyd will be held Sunday, October 9, 2022, Thursday, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, Texas. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 10, 2022 at 10:00 AM Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, Texas. Burial will follow at Pendleton Cemetery.
