

Gary Neal Ebensberger was born February 24, 1955, as the first child of AC and Pearl Ebensberger of Dallas, Texas. He passed away peacefully at 9:45am on Friday the 21st of November 2025, following a long struggle with congestive heart failure. Gary was baptized alongside his brother Grady at the Skillman Avenue Church of Christ on September 20, 1970. Gary attended High School in Van Alstyne, Texas where his family had moved to enjoy the country life during retirement. After High School, Gary worked at a variety of jobs in the Dallas metroplex until meeting the love of his life, Sheilah Moore Evard of Temple, Texas. In 1998, Gary married Sheilah, and they settled in Temple surrounded by her extended family and friends.
Gary was a talker and loved to tell stories. He never met a stranger and would share everything he knew with anyone who would listen. Gary’s storytelling would include every word and every sound-effect, including all of the grunts and groans of every conversation or event in his life. He loved to read and play games and watch good ol’ classic TV series.
Gary is survived by his brother Grady and his wife Robbie of Van Alstyne, Texas, two nieces Kacy and Kara Ebensberger and nephew Riley Ebensberger and Sheilah’s children, Samantha Marrs and husband Chris of Buckholts. Texas, and their son Hayden, and Joel Evard of Temple. Gary was preceded in death by his parents AC and Pearl, and by his wife Sheilah.
A special thank you is extended to everyone in Sheilah’s family who took Gary in as their own and helped him through his various medical needs and other life struggles after Sheilah passed. He was also very grateful to the many friends he made among the residents and staff at the Garden Estates assisted living facility in Temple who made a big impact on the quality of life he enjoyed during his final years.
A small private memorial will be held graveside at the Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas on Saturday December 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
