

Dr. James Eugene McClendon passed away December 9, 2021 at Baylor, Scott, and White Hospital in Temple, TX. He was born January 5, 1930. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ola., his brother Samuel McClendon, and his parents, Samuel Palmer McClendon and Henrietta Fusselman McClendon.
Dr. McClendon was a cardiologist, who served the poor in India for seven years as a medical missionary with the Methodist church. Following his return to the US, he accepted a position in a Veterans Administration Hospital, serving those who served our country. He also served as a professor at the Texas A&M University Medical School in Temple.
Jim was a kind and compassionate man who cared not only for his beloved wife, and his sons Marvin and Mark, but also for his patients. He served many people throughout his medical career. He gave to various charities and organizations that worked toward equality for all people. His commitment to mankind was demonstrated throughout his life. Dr. McClendon was a soft-spoken man with strong principles. He was loved by his family, patients, and an array of friends throughout the world. He will be missed, but he will not be forgotten. He will live in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known him.
