February 19, 1946 – July 7, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Jane Marie Kneis-Maurer, age 80, of Temple, Texas, on July 7, 2026.
Jane was born on February 19, 1946, in Buffalo, New York, to Norbert J. Kneis and Leah Ruth Kneis, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Martin A. Kneis, Robert Crom, and Phyllis Bullard.
Jane is survived by her siblings Norbert J. Kneis Jr. and Patricia L. Kneis. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her children, Anne-Marie Pittman and husband Paul Pittman, Anja Marien Hunt, Roy Melvin Maurer Jr. and wife Priscilla Maurer, Katheryn Mabel Emmert, and Carolynne "CJ" Jane Edwards and husband Marshall Edwards. Jane was the proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Jane proudly served her country in the United States Army before dedicating more than 20 years as a bus driver for Pasadena Independent School District. Throughout her career, she safely transported generations of students and became known for her reliability, dedication, and caring spirit.
A woman of deep faith, Jane was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She found great joy in studying and reading the Bible, attending and serving in the Temple, and strengthening her relationship with the Lord. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life and an example to her family.
Jane had a passion for genealogy, spending countless hours researching family history and preserving the stories of those who came before her. She loved crocheting, creating handmade gifts that will continue to remind her loved ones of her warmth and generosity. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed learning and growing through scripture study.
Those who knew Jane will remember her as a woman of strength, resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, and share her wisdom with others. Her greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Jane's legacy is one of faith, service, love, and perseverance. While her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that her influence lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.
Funeral and memorial service details will be announced by the family later.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jane's memory.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
