Janie was a lifelong Temple resident whose loss will be felt by many, She was an active member of Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church. She also served various other churches, schools and organizations over the years. She taught Sunday school, volunteered countless hours in classrooms and at fundraisers, and worked generously with Operation Christmas Child each year. She also enjoyed her work with the American Heart Association Women in Red campaign.
Janie never met a stranger and could make any who crossed her path feel cared for and special. She gleaned great joy and pride from taking care of those around her. She always had a hug and a little bag of goodies at the ready, and spent the majority of her time in the kitchen cooking for everyone she loved. Her peanut clusters, pumpkin bread, cheese ball, meatloaf, and rice will be missed by all. She was endlessly thoughtful. From hunting down the perfect baby gift for a new acquaintance to driving hundreds of miles to help one of her children, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for you.
Janie was married to the love of her life, Ernest, for 48 precious years. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and new great grandchild, as anyone who spoke to her for more than a few minutes could tell you. She was the cornerstone of her entire family, and the void she leaves cannot be filled. We’ll carry her in our hearts until the day we are reunited.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Maria de la Luz and Jose Guadalupe Garcia, her sisters, Alycia Garcia, Olga de La Rosa, and Amy Quiroz, and her brother Raymond Garcia. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Coffia of Temple; her children, Xavier Coffia and his wife Pam of Belton, Anissa Dobbins and her husband Andy of Salado, and Nicole Coffia of Dallas; grandchildren, Chris, Haley, Drew, Bryce and Jordan; great grandchildren, Riley, Wyatt and Kaysen.
