Jesse Vasquez Sr., age 60, of Temple, Texas passed away on Wednesday June 3, 2020. Jesse was born December 25, 1959 in Hutto, TX to Amelia Huerta.

A celebration of life for Jesse will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Vasquez, his children, Maria Elena Vasquez, Jesse Vasquez Jr. and wife Miranda Vasquez, Justin Vasquez and wife Claudia Vasquez and Juan Vasquez, grandkids, Alyssa, Jason, Jesse III, Emily, Johnathan and Madeline Vasquez, sister, Juana Vasquez Place, brothers, Johnny, Michael, Alex and Raymond Huerta.

Biography

Jesse Vasquez Sr. was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Jesse will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

Jesse was born on December 25, 1959 at home in Hutto, Texas. He was the son of Amelia Huerta. Jesse grew up in Hutto and then moved to Belton, Texas.

Jesse was raised with 6 brothers and 2 sisters, Mary Hernandez, Juana Vasquez, Marcus Vasquez, Carlos Vasquez, Johnny Huerta, Alex Huerta, Raymond Huerta, Michael Huerta, and Arnold Huerta. Jesse was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

As a young boy, Jesse had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Jesse was an active child who took part in work and playing around. In his spare time he liked fixing cars. However, to Jesse, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.

A typical teenager, Jesse had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Belton High School in 1977. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. His favorite class in high school was math and auto shop.

Always considered a “good” friend to those he knew, Jesse enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. While growing up, some of his best friend was Charlie White.

On March 23, 1979 Jesse exchanged wedding vows with Teresa Jimenez at Christ of the King Church in Belton, Texas. Empathic and loyal, Jesse was committed to making his new family happy.

Jesse worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Jesse was blessed with 5 children, one daughter, Maria Elena Vasquez and four sons, Jesse Jr. Vasquez, Justin Vasquez, Johnathan Vasquez and Juan Vasquez. Another blessing for Jesse was the gift of his 6 grandchildren, Alyssa Vasquez, Jesse Vasquez, III, Andrew Vasquez, Jason Vasquez, Emily Vasquez, Johnathan Vasquez, Madeline Vasquez.

Jesse enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were collecting cans to recycle. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.

Jesse’s faith was important to him. He was a member of Christ of the King Church for 39 years.

Jesse enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. He loved to travel to California and Colorado.

Jesse was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Jake a Boxer. They were best friends for 13 years.

When Jesse’s retirement finally arrived in 2004, he was well prepared. His new life involved relocating home in Belton, Texas. In retirement, he found new pleasure in watching his grandchildren. Even in retirement, Jesse continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances.

Jesse passed away on June 3, 2020 at home in Temple, Texas. He is survived by his wife Teresa Vasquez, his children, Maria Elena Vasquez, Jesse Vasquez Jr. and wife Miranda Vasquez, Justin Vasquez and wife Claudia Vasquez and Juan Vasquez, grandkids, Alyssa, Jason, Jesse III, Emily, Johnathan and Madeline Vasquez, sister, Juana Vasquez Place, brothers, Johnny, Michael, Alex and Raymond Huerta.

Simply stated, Jesse was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Jesse leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Jesse Vasquez Sr.
