John Lonzo Guthrie

John L. Guthrie was born November 24, 1935 in Holland, Texas to John William Guthrie and Dorothy Pace Guthrie. He lived all of his life in Bell County except for his time in the service when he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas among others. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and was Honorably Discharged August 29, 1960. He married Mary Jane Foster, June 26, 1981 in Belton, Texas.

Mr. Guthrie died March 24, 2012 in Temple, Texas.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Tommi L. Harp in 1976.

Survivors include wife, Mary Jane Guthrie, of Temple; two sons, Richard E. Harris of Temple and John L. Guthrie II of Temple; two daughters, Britinia Lu Petty of Keller and Dorothy J. Anderson of Belton; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of American, 801 18th Street NW, Washington DC 20006-3517.

Inurnment and memorial services for John Lonzo Guthrie, 76, of Temple, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Holland Cemetery with Military Honors. He died Saturday, March 24 in a Temple hospital.
