

John Burton Kemp, Jr., age 70 of Temple, passed away at his home Tuesday, March 13. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 15 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Temple. Services are set for 12:00 pm, Saturday, March 16 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Temple with burial to follow at Great House Cemetery.
John was the beloved husband of Dorothy Kemp and was born on February 18, 1943 to John B. Kemp, Sr. and wife Marjorie.
John served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War as a communications specialist in Italy and then at The Pentagon. He was an avid model railroader all his life. He worked for Union Carbide and retired after 33 years with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dorothy Ann Kemp, a brother, Patrick Kemp and wife Sharon, daughters Jennifer Grady and Jessica Mitchell and life partner Michell Gilbert and step-children Billy and Doug Walker, Lori Ann Whitt, Sissy Bowen, and a sister-in-law Dina Lee Guynes. He has ten grandchildren.
