Funeral services for Lonnie Everett Etheridge, 87, of Temple will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11 AM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple with Chaplain Gary Baxley officiating. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home before the service.
Mr. Etheridge was born on March 18, 1930 in Manila, Arkansas to Jesse and Katy Etheridge and passed away on February 9, 2018 in Temple. He married Ruby Kennedy and began his adult life raising a family. He was a veteran of the US Army and worked in communications for years. At one time, he had a radio show, The Lon Etheridge Show on WPEO in Peoria, IL and worked for WHOI TV in Peoria. After moving to Temple, he was a technician for Wear Radio Service for several years. After retiring from communications work, he volunteered at the Salvation Army for about 6 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings Ray Etheridge, Gene Etheridge, Lois Reed and Martha Townsend. He is survived by his wife Ruby, children Danny Etheridge and Gerry (Terry) Reynolds Grandchildren Ryan (Katie) Montgomery and Derek (Emily) Montgomery. Great grandchildren are Ryan’s children Hannah and Cole Montgomery and Derek’s son Isaac Montgomery. Also, his special friend Greg Rubac.
