Mildred was born September 27, 1914 to William H. and Inez (Pardue) Stapleton in Honey Grove, Texas. She joined the army during World War II and served her country as a nurse, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. She so loved nursing that when her time with the Army was over, she became a Civil Servant and worked at for the Veteran's Administration as a nurse.
She is survived by her nephews, Kenneth H. Wood of Terrell, Texas and John N. Wood of Sulpher, Oklahoma as well as many friends and extended family.
