Robert “Bob” Arthur Hollinger, age 76 of Killeen passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at a local hospital. He was born October 28, 1949 in Longview, Texas to Albert Charles Hollinger and Hazel Mae Taylor Hollinger. Visitation will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple, Texas at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 7. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM at Crawford-Bowers. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple following the service.
Bob graduated from Killeen High School in 1968 and received a Bachelors of Music Education degree from Sam Houston State University in 1972. After a couple of years teaching junior high choir, he worked in the Houston area in the diesel pump field and for Dealers Hobby in sales. He spent two years working for Stewart and Stevenson in Saudi Arabia selling diesel pumps and generators. He then returned to Killeen to work at the family credit bureau business with his brother Charles. He worked as an account executive for Experian for four years before retiring in 2007.
Bob married Sherry Gillmeister Gorden on September 28, 1996 and became a wonderful stepfather to her two children, Jenny and Jeremy. Bob was a man of faith and life-long Lutheran. He enjoyed singing in church choirs and served several years as an elder. Bob was a member of Lions International for 30 years serving in various capacities in the Temple and Killeen Noon Lions clubs. He was a beloved friend to many and always willing to help wherever he was needed. Bob and Sherry enjoyed all types of travel including trailer trips to National Parks, cruises, and vacations to Europe. Other activities Bob enjoyed over the years included snow skiing, water skiing, scuba diving and boating. Spending time with family and friends was very special to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Chuck Hollinger. Survivors include his wife, his step-daughter Jenny Holder and her husband Jeremy Holder, his step-son Jeremy Gorden and his wife Laura Gorden, grandchildren Lenore Phy, Benjamin Gorden, Sean Gorden, and Clara Gorden, his brother Charles Hollinger and his sister Carolyn Evans, nieces Kris Renshaw, Roxanne Tichenor, and Teresa Evans and nephew Connor Evans.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at Fortress Lutheran Church in Harker Heights or the charity of one’s choice.
