ROSALIE A ROBERTS
September 14, 1933 – March 26, 2019
Rosalie Alma Roberts, 85 of Temple, Texas passed away March 26, 2019 after battling cancer for several years in Temple. She was born on September 14, 1933 in Bryan, Texas five minutes before beer (end of prohibition). She was a longtime volunteer at Ronald McDonald House in Temple, Texas. Rosalie began her career as an educator with the Archdiocese of Baltimore as a nun with the School Sisters of Notre Dame in the 1950’s. After leaving the convent Rosalie worked as a proofreader for newspapers in Baltimore and Los Angeles. She earned a degree from Notre Dame College and moved on to work for the Dept. of Interior on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. Then she worked for the Bureau of Mines in Dallas, Texas and in Charleston W.VA and in Washington D.C. On retirement Rosalie moved to Luling, Texas where she operated a used book store in Seguin, Texas; “The Paperback Ranch”. Rosalie settled in Temple where she became a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. She was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth, John and Michael. Surviving siblings include a sister, Catherine Ann and brothers, Joseph Vincent, Charles Anthony and Patrick James. No services are planned but tribute donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Temple in Rosalie’s name would be greatly appreciated.
