Sandy was born July 5, 1945, in Glendive Montana to Ted and Ethel Keeland. After graduating high school, she attended Montana State University where she graduated with her degree in Nursing in 1966. She later completed her master’s degree in nursing from Texas A& M Corpus Christi in 1996
Her passion for nursing spanned 53 years. The last 15 years of her career was as an educator. She loved teaching and mentoring new nurses. Her spirit of caring for people spanned a lifetime. She was also an active member of the Temple Breakfast Lions Club in addition she helped start the Feed My Sheep Free Pediatric Clinic. She had a love for her community.
Her passion for sewing and creating led her to quilting. She made over 140 Quilts of Valor that she presented to our Military Veterans
Sandy’s smile could light up a room. She made every person she encountered feel important and loved.
Those left to honor and cherish her memories are beloved husband Lisle Meeker. Her daughter, Nicki (John) Jones, Temple TX; Helena (Ed) Deroche, Rumford ME; Jodi Jones, Anaconda, MT. Her sons, Kevin(Natasha) Savoie, Moody TX; Lisle Meeker JR, Lafayette LA and Tim (Alisha) Meeker, Temple Texas. Her brother Clyde (Vicki) Keeland, Corbet OR; her sister Joann (Leroy) Vanette, Great Falls, MT. Sandy also has 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Ethel Keeland.
A visitation for Sandra will be held Monday, June 30, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, TX. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home.
The family asks you either wear something purple or they will have purple ribbons at visitation and funeral purple for Alzheimer's and Dementia and her previous employer UMHB!
