Dear Papa,
     God looked around His garden and found an empty place.
     He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.
     He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.
     God's garden must be beautiful; He always takes the best.
     He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb,
     so He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered, "Peace be thine."
     It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone, for part of us 
    went with you the day God called you home.
    We struggle losing you each day but realize you are no longer in pain 
     and now with God our Father caring for us.

My name is Gino Sison.  Mr. Tomas Dee is my father-in-law.  He passed away on 2/16/2012 after a brief illness.  We are here today to say goodbye to our grandfather/father/husband.  He served as an inspiration to us all, a model to me and everyone else, lucky enough to have had contact with him.  In so far as I can tell, he found true happiness.  He led a simple lifestyle, simple taste, nothing extravagant.  He lived in a solid house and drove a reliable car.  This led to him having more time and energy in doing what mattered to him the most: devotion to his family.  In one of our visits, I would join him in his morning walks around the neighborhood.  He would take me to his gym.  In essence, he reignited my passion for physical exercise and I will forever be thankful to him for this.  He was a wonderful husband to his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Lily Dee.  They did things together.  They truly had an honest, loving, caring, and respectful relationship....a true partnership.  Never did I hear any harsh words exchanged between the two of them.  They were business partners.  They shared a wonderful lifetime.  They genuinely enjoyed each other's company.  They took trips and cruises.  Thus, his true recipe for happiness and success is a simple lifestyle, kindness to others, and being surrounded with family and friends.  For this, he will always be remembered with much fondness and joy.  He will live on in all of us.  We will always love you, Papa.  
To live, one has to suffer.  To survive, one has to find reason in life.  One finds this in a vocation, a wife/"soulmate."

There only a few un-denying facts about the world we live in.  One un-denying fact is that numbers don't lie.  Out of those numbers, there are 10 un-denying facts I will forever remember about my dad.

10 is for 10 percent.. the percentage total I actually beat him in the game of mahjong

9 is for 9 percent... it is the percentage total he won't sacrifice his own tiles in dominoes to block someone who put out a blank tile.  

8, ate is what I did a lot of when he would take me to Ong Pin and introduce me to restaurants like the Carvahal and Turo-Turo restaurants that I still remember until this day.   I really ate a lot.

7 is for 7th grade... the grade I entered school here in the US.  It's also the year that he started driving me back and forth from school early in the mornings.  Without complaint and without even a hint of how much a pain in the rear it was to do day in and day out.

6, six is the number of times minimum he would offer me to watch some Kung Fu movie he recently recorded in one day of visiting....

5, five is the total number of times in my 32 years of knowing him that he even slightly raised his voice.  Most of them came from someone not blocking a blank tile in dominoes.

4  â€¦four is a number I associate with him, my mom, Priscila and myself.  4 people having the best time playing mahjong on a Saturday and Sunday morning when we came down and visit.

3, three is the minimum amount of lobsters he would eat at lobster night on a cruise ship in one sitting.

2, two is the number I associate when I have breakfast with him (just the two of us) in the morning.  It was he and I.  The two of us.  He was an early bird like me and when he can find a good piece of bread and some hong-ma to go with it.  Two is the number of people who quietly scarfed breakfast down before Mom or my wife knew about it and start yelling at us about cholesterol levels.  2 was a great, and particularly delicious number.

1, number one is the rank I would give him if he was head to head with a million other dad's out there.

0, zero is the number of times I will ever see him again.  0 is the same number that his love and deeds will escape my life.  

God Bless you Dad.  I promise to play mahjong as soon as I see you again God willing.

The simplest things made you happy;
Your smile was one of a kind.

You told me when I was little
That I should grow up to be strong

The memories that we have of you
