Tomy Valmores

Tomy Valmores, age 98, of Belton, Texas passed away on Tuesday February 27, 2018. Tomy was born April 18, 1919 in Philippines. Tomy was born in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. Tomy's passion was the military life. He began his military career as a teen-ager during the beginning of World War II in the Pacific. He joined a Filipino guerilla group to help protect the Province of Nueva Vizcaya. He fought with this group until he was captured. As a Prisoner of War, he survived the Bataan Death March. As a guerilla, he had helped the US troops, spying for them, and for this service, he was offered to join the US Army in 1945. His military career spanned 27 years . He served in the Korean War and, during the Vietnam War, Tomy trained soldiers in Jungle Survival for a Fort Hood tactical unit. As a military hero, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct medals, WWII Medal, and POW Medal. Proudly, he became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States in 1946. After retirement, Tomy learned new skills such as carpentry, car mechanics, and gardening. His friends knew he would help whenever he was needed for his skills. His gardens became known to be the place to harvest vegetables from the Philippine Islands. He and his wife enjoyed the latter most of all. He leaves behind his wife, Hermiflor, his children Virginia Race-Valmores and spouse Jeff, Mary Brinson and spouse Josef, Milagrose Aronson and spouse Gregg, Marilyn Bean and spouse Wes, Jefferson Valmores and spouse Kim; Teresa Burtchell and spouse Paul; Elizabeth Valmores, Michael Valmores and spouse Robert, Christopher Valmores and spouse Shelly, Roldan Pulig and spouse Marisol; Romelyn Magao and spouse Hariz; his grandchildren, Lisa Morales, Melissa Rios, Jason Race, TJ Brinson, Laura Michelle Swanzy, Sarah AronsonGalindo, Justin Hoffman, Sonya Franz, Lucas Bean, Scott-Wesley Bean, Amos Valmores, Bethany Valmores, Sage Valmores, Lauren Ah Sang, Jonathan Saltarelli, William Fecteau, Lindsey Fox, Celissa Camarillo, Mady Birley, Dakota Taylor, Ashley Flores, Christopher Valmores, Rylee Thompson, Hannah Thompson, Angel Pulig, Kyle Magao; his great grandchildren, Megan Morales, Marina Morales, Ethan Morales, Xavier Rios, Jaylen Rios, Meilani Blackwood, Dezirae Risener, Jason Race Jr, Maraya Brinson, Nathaniel Brinson, Caplin Fell, Ava Galindo, Penelope Galindo, Jaden Hoffman, Dahlia Hoffman, Owen Franz, Scarlett Franz, Colin Franz, Austin Valmores, Aria Valmores, Alani Hicks, Zoe Criado, Elanor Green, Tiani Ah Sang, Lagi Ah Sang, Pele Ah Sang, Sosefina Ah Sang, Masina Ah Sang, Vivica Saltarelli, Keoni Saltarelli, Juliana Camarillo, Sebastian Flores, Lila Valmores, Levi Thompson; his great-great granddaughter, Kaiora Rios; his niece, Amy Alva; and his sister-in-law Erlinda Valmores. A graveside service for Tomy will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery , Killeen, Texas. A catholic funeral mass will occur Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 8:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church , Belton , Texas. A cremation will occur.
