

Born in Thorndale, Texas on October 23, 1929, to the late Cue and Alpha Rutherford Baird. He married the love of his life, Johnnie Fay Glass on October 28, 1951 in Cameron, Texas. He served her devotedly for 72 years until the time of her death on February 15, 2024.
Also preceded in death are his brothers Cue (Marie) Baird and his twin Vaughn (Joyce) Baird and nephew Philip Baird.
He carried throughout his life the values of loyalty, family and hard work. He was a good and faithful man, steady in character, humble in spirit and devoted to those he loved. He was in the U.S. Army and proudly served in the Korean War.
After his service, he built a life centered around faith, family and the land he loved. His farm and cattle were his pride and joy. His children could always depend on him for wisdom, strength and unconditional love. Nothing brought him a greater smile to his face than his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Gordon Baird of Temple, Texas, Brenda (Jed) Durbin of Cookeville, Tennessee, his grandchildren Justin (Christine) Baird, Jordan (Brett) Lannen, Julie (Kalen) Moore, Madison (Heath) Crum, his great-grandchildren Wyatt Lannen, Matthew Baird, Judah Lannen, Bryan Baird, Baird Lannen, Hannah Baird, Stevie Crum, Nellie Lannen, and Lottie Lannen.
Though he will be deeply missed the memories he created and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Graveside service will be Tuesday May 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at North Belton Cemetery.
