Vernon Keith Walker, age 73, loving father of two and beloved husband of Sosita Walker, passed away at Baylor Scott & White on Thursday, April 9th. Vernon was born in Houston on March 4, 1953 to Albert and Madalene Walker.
Vernon proudly served his country as a Navy veteran during the Vietnam War. His naval career spanned the globe from tours aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, U.S.S. Wasp, and U.S.S. Enterprise.
When stationed at NAS Subic Bay, Philippines, he met Sosita Varron whom he married in 1974. They relocated to the United States in 1976. Vernon and Sosita shared 48 years of deep devotion and partnership before her passing in 2022; their reunion now brings comfort to those who loved them.
Vernon, known as "Vern" to respected colleagues and "Keith" to family and friends, was a hard-working, strong, and honorable man. He valued integrity and leadership, but was also just as fond as telling "Dad jokes". He is loved and will be dearly missed by family. Vernon was pre-deceased by his parents Albert and Madalene Walker, and older brother Ronald. He is survived by his children Crystal Walker and Robert Walker. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Deborah Cauley, his nephew David Walker, his niece April Walker, and their families.
Out of respect of Vernon's wishes, there will be no service. The family deeply appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and shared memories during this time. Vernon will be interred at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
