Winston was born in Davilla, Texas and was raised in the area of Davilla/Rogers and Long Mott, Texas. Mr. Sharp was a graduate of Rogers High School. After graduating high school, Winston entered and graduated from Blinn College where he played football for the Buccaneers.
Winston worked for Exxon Mobil at the Baytown, Texas refinery. He worked there for over thirty years and then retired.
While in Baytown, Winston joined the Loyal Order of Moose and eventually became a Lifetime Member. In 1965, he earned his Fellowship Degree. In 1966, Winston and his wife, Karren became Charter Members of the Pasadena Moose Lodge in Pasadena, Texas. Winston sponsored over 80 plus members during his lifetime. In June, 1972 he earned his Pilgrim Degree, the highest degree possible in the organization, based on service to the community as well as to the Moose Organization. Winston was also a member of the Christian Church.
Winston and Karren retired to the Mountain Grove, Missouri area where they farmed and raised cattle. They eventually sold their farm and continued their retirement moving to Florida to be closer to their son and daughter.
Winston was proceeded in death by his wife, Karren; son, William F. Sharp V; brothers, William “Billy” and James Robert; sisters, Joann Holliman and Frances Jane Sharp; and his parents, William Franklin and Haydon Perry Sharp.
Winston is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Tom Ketterer; Sandra and Mark Schulte; Ketterer grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Katie, Lane, Haydon and Wyatt; Ketterer great-grandchildren, Avery, Easton, and Camden; as well as nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Winston’s life will be held graveside at the Davilla Cemetery in Davilla, Texas on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers can be sent to Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 3220 S 31st Street, Temple, Texas 76502 or memorial donations can be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
