

Gathering together to see everyone was her favorite thing. Alta spent hours preparing for their arrival and loved them all. Alta loved music and was a marvelous pianist. She painted flowers, landscapes and birds, and was an avid reader. She was the last of that 'great generation'that lived through the Great Depression and WWII in her family. Alta died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes.
Alta was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Ira E. Smith(and all of his family), her parents, Marshall/Verna Braner, sisters, Viola/George Conway, Blanche/Carl Kiger, Edith/Tony Reed, Daisy/George Lowe, Buella/Leroy Chambers and her brother, Harley/Lena Braner, as well as two daughters, Verna Burk and Janice(and son-in-law Dave) Cole.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela Smith and Kathleen Lewton, her son David/Nina Smith, Son-in-Law, Don Burk and Cousin Nina Couch. Those who called her Grandma, Ben/Christine Lewton, Chad/Nichole Lewton, Don/Merryn Cole, Lori Burk, Blair Smith/Stephanie, Andrew Smith, Katie/Kurtis Blank, Brittany Crowe and Karin/Danny Portee. Also to be included, Great-Grandchildren, A.J., Minnie, Nick, Chloe, Naomi, Max, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Eli, Elli, Lexi, Jensen and Great-Great Grandchildren, Addie and Kyrie. Not to be forgotten are nieces and nephews, Sue Collins, Sharon Phagan, Carlene Nemeth, Jimmie Kiger, Tony/Julia Reed, Joyce Strain, Marshall Lowe, Bill Chambers, Denny/Cathy Atterson, Winifred Galloway, Cindy Yocum, David Smith, Jim Smith, Kristi/Otis Smith-Williams, Becky McGrannahan, Randy Smith and Kim Roan.
Graveside services will be held on June 29, 2024 at 11am at Roselawn Memorial Park.
