

Barbara Kay Smith, 80, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. She was born to Everett Dewey and Carolyn (Davis) Dewey, on April 21, 1946. Over the years, Barb worked at Great Scott, ALCAN, and she retired from the Vigo County School Corporation as a Bus Driver. She enjoyed working in her yard, and taking annual trips to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Christi Peoples. She leaves behind her partner in crime and in life Diana Chrisman; granddaughter Brooklyn Lucas; great granddaughter Serena; nieces and nephews Wendy Dewey, Brad Dewey, Crystal Bandor, and Tony Dewey; family is not always blood, however Barb always treated Robbe Chrisman, Amanda Carson (Billy), Shelby and Gracie Sasinger as if they were her biological family; also surviving are many special friends, including David Cole. A celebration of life will be on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, beginning at 5 PM in the Banquet Center at the Bush Family Restaurant in Terre Haute, Indiana. We hope you will join us as we gather to honor her life, share memories, and celebrate the love and joy she brought to so many.
