Bobby Dale Johnson

Bobby “Bob” Dale Johnson, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away on March 10, 2019, at home after a battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on May 15, 1935, in Gilmore, IN to Bill and Lucille (Woods) Johnson. Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy (Miller) Johnson of Terre Haute and formerly of Clay City; his daughter, Cheryl Gourdouze of Terre Haute; granddaughter, Jenny Gourdouze of Nashville, TN; grandson, Kris Gourdouze and wife Keren of Schaumburg, IL; a brother, Jerry Johnson and wife Shirley of Lillington, N.C.; sister-in-law, Shirley Graham and husband Don of Plainfield; brother-in-law, Paul Miller and wife Marilyn of San Clemente, CA; uncle, Jim Woods of Jasonville; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill, of Jasonville.

Bob was a 1953 graduate of Midland High School. He retired from Alcan after 35 years of service. Bob played baseball in his younger days and he enjoyed coaching his grandson’s baseball team at Terre Town and Babe Ruth. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Indiana Pacers, and IU fan. Bob will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, wonderful father, and the best grandfather ever. He will be truly missed.

A private family graveside service will be held at K of P Cemetery in Hymera. The Johnson family would like to thank Harrison Crossing and special neighbors, Kyle and Emilee Barnett for their friendship and compassionate assistance during Bob’s final days. Bob and I worked together for a lot of years. We had a lot of laughs. It made going to work fun at times. He will be missed.
