Caralee Joanne Homann, 96, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at The Gibson Family for Hospice Care Center, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Caralee was born on September 30, 1929, to William and June Wishhart, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Caralee married the love of her life, Robert Homann, on August 9, 1952. They recently celebrated 74 years of marriage. Caralee received her Teaching degree at Indiana State University. She taught her entire career in Illinois. She loved her students and kept many cards from students, who described her as “The Best Teacher in the World.” After retiring, Caralee and Bob enjoyed spending time together gardening and sitting on their back porch relaxing and having a glass of German wine. Caralee was a great cook and collected many recipes, she loved flowers, especially sunflowers. She always had out bird feeders and especially enjoyed hummingbirds. She enjoyed watching Cubs baseball. She and Bob loved dogs and gave a loving home to many throughout their lives. Caralee was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her Lutheran Faith was strong. Caralee and her husband traveled to Germany, where they enjoyed visiting many sites, especially Castle Church that was associated with Martin Luther. Caralee and Robert made a home at the Commons in Terre Haute, where they appreciated the kindness and care of nurses and all the staff. Caralee was preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard. She is survived by her husband Robert, close niece Dorothy, and husband Scott, also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026, at 2:00p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
