Carolyn Jean Collins

Carolyn Jean Collins, beloved mother grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2012 due to complications of heart and lung disease. She went peacefully at home surrounded by love and goodness.

Carolyn was born on January 7, 1937 in Danvers, IL. to the late Carl E. and Ruth L. (Waugler) Jones. She attended a one room school house in Danvers and later relocated to Lexington, IL.

Carolyn put herself through nursing school at Ivy Tech College. She worked numerous part time jobs while attending college and raising children. After graduating, she worked for 25 years as an LPN at the Vigo County Home and retiring in 1999 from Royal Oaks Nursing Home, at which time she cared for her mother after her own father passed.

She was a long standing member of Grace Baptist Church in Terre Haute and was affiliated with the North Terre Haute Baptist Church. Because of a true heart for God, she gave of herself in countless ways in the church, including: baking cookies for Vacation Bible School, serving others at dinners, helping teach in the Sunday School class and keeping the church clean.

Another favorite recreation was numerous types of crafts, which she enjoyed making and giving to everyone. Her faith in God made her strong willed and determined to get through life’s struggles. She will forever be remembered as a loving, caring, giving, generous and unselfish woman and will be greatly missed until we all meet again in heaven.

Carolyn is survived by her children, James and wife Cindy Anderson, Terry and wife Jane Anderson, Jeff and wife Grace Anderson, Thomas Anderson and his wife, all of Illinois, Julie and husband William Sappingfield and Tina Anderson, both of Terre Haute; sister, Linda L. and husband Marshall Stone of Normal, IL; brother, Robert C. and wife Simone Jones of Lexington, IL., along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends Carolyn made through the road of life.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was welcomed home to heaven by her husbands, Ronald L. Collins and Bill Lee Mitchell, both were from Terre Haute and Lloyd Verne Anderson of Lexington, IL.; two daughters-in-law, Jan Anderson and Kim Anderson; one son-in-law, Victor Haworth and two brothers, Donald L. Jones of Bloomington, IL. and Larry J. Jones of Portland, OR.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Carolyn’s Funeral Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute.
