Carolyn Sue Payne

Carolyn was born on September 21, 1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Frederick E. Lawhorn and Dorothy M. Lawhorn (Price) of Terre Haute, Indiana. She graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1965 and was a member of Church of Christ in Terre Haute, IN. She also served as a foster parent in earlier years, and enjoyed it very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Jack L. Payne, as well as her parents Frederick and Dorothy.

Carolyn is survived by son, Eric L. Payne of Fontanet, IN and Michael D. Payne (Evelyn Jane) of Terre Haute, IN; daughter Cristy L. Payne of Terre Haute, IN; brother Jerry L. Goff (Carol) of Terre Haute, IN; sister Nancy J. (Lawhorn Reisinger-Randall (Charles) of Clinton, IN; grandchildren Haley M. Payne and Eric L. Payne; 4 great grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews. She loved her family so much.

She had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 11am.
