

Charles O. Earles, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was born on May 25, 1921, in Hillsdale, to Harold O. and Elsie (Ponton) Earles. Charles proudly served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Charles retired from Western Union after 34 years as an Installation Foreman. He then worked for many years as an operator at Hercules. He was a member of Sulphur Springs Church of Christ, a member of the American Legion, and a life member of the DAV. Charles enjoyed doing yard work, visiting with people, and just staying busy.
He is survived by his children: James Earles and his wife Glenda of Plainfield; William Earles and his wife Barbara of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Paul Earles, Jr. and wife Beth of Cincinnati; Nancy Logsdon and husband Greg of Plainfield; Matt Earles of Washington, D.C.; Heidi Schwettman and husband Shaun of Plainfield; Shaina Brown and husband Mark of Indianapolis; and Kimberly Ayers of Louisville,KY; great-grandchildren, Samantha Logsdon, Caleb, Kylia, and Skyler Schwettman, Cameron Earles and wife Alyssa, Hollie Earles, and Brooke Brown; a great-great-grandchild Bailey Logsdon Tyree and Lilyanah Earles; and a niece, Darby McCarty of Ellettsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lela Earles; a son, Paul E. Earles; and brothers Paul E. Earles and William Earles.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 on Sunday, September 28 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at noon, on Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by VFW Post 972. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
