

Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clarabell (Handick) Wright of Terre Haute; children, Sandra Shewmaker and husband Paul of Simpsonville, SC; and Tom Wright and wife Cheryl of Clinton; grandchildren, Daniel Shewmaker of Simpsonville, SC; Matthew Shewmaker and wife Malia of Fountain Inn, SC; Chris Wright and wife Danielle of Terre Haute; Michael Wright Jr., of Terre Haute; Amber Wilson of Terre Haute; and Cheyenne Wright of Linton; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Carter Wright of Terre Haute and Mia Shewmaker of Fountain Inn, SC; a brother Gary Wright and wife Phyllis of Oakland City; a sister Deborah Howard and husband Darrell of Crawfordsville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Wright.
Charles proudly served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. He spent nine months in France during the Berlin Crisis. He worked at Kroger for 40 years as a produce clerk. Charles was a member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and working on cars. Charles was an avid Elvis fan and collected Elvis memorabilia. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cookouts. He will be remembered for playing his accordion, which he lost in the flood of 2008. Most of all, Charles cherished the time he spent with his family.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 11 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 12, at the funeral home, with Reverend Teresa D.
