

Curtis B. Culver, 94, of Terre Haute, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Mr. Culver was born in Joppa, Ill., the son of the late Clyde W. Culver and Bessie E. (Oliver) Culver.
Curtis was a Federal Compliance Officer for the General Services Administration. He was a minister, chaplain and missionary to Latvia, Costa Rica, and helped build a youth camp in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela. He had the honor of receiving the Sagamore of the Wabash award from the governor of Indiana. He was the State President of the U.S. Federation of Postal Workers. Curtis was an avid golfer, a private pilot and enjoyed flying his Mooney for many years. He was a World War II Army veteran and platoon leader who fought in the Pacific Theater.
He was preceded in death by brothers, R.D. “Johnny,” Pete and Deriel Culver; daughter, Sharon Ann Oliver; and son, Robert L. “Bobby” Culver. Survivors include his wife, Lorena M. (Anderson) Culver; sons, Curtis Dean Culver, Zachary C. (Ellen) McCullough, Jacob D. (Christy) McCullough, all of Terre Haute, and Curtis B. (Linsay) Culver II of Boise, Idaho; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ed Heesaker, Dale West and Bill Combs.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 7, 2014, 12 noon at Calvary Temple, 2100 N. 61⁄2 St., with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Burial will follow services at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. till 12 noon. Arrangements are under the direction of Simple Cremations and Burials, Clinton.
