Donna F. Seprodi-Burt, 72, of Brazil went to her parent’s waiting arms to help her on her journey to her Heavenly Father on October 8, 2026. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Frank and Marie Eileen (Burns) Seprodi on January 18, 1954.
Even though she battled chronic illnesses all her life, she worked from a young age. She received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in criminology and was the first college graduate on her father’s side and the second on her mother’s side. Due to her inquisitive nature, she was interested in learning about people, places, and things. In another time and place she would have been called “Mrs. Columbo”. She worked for over 35 years with the Indiana Department of Corrections, lastly as a correctional counselor. She was proud to be a charter member of the Putnamville Correctional Facility Labor Management Committee. This committee established a memorial and scholarship of those staff who died in active service. She admired and respected the line staff, especially correctional officers who she considered to be the most important workers in the Department of Corrections and did what she could as a union member and colleague to support their efforts.
After retirement she volunteered with her church by working at the bingo hall, cleaning projects and being the Wednesday “lunch” lady for the Annunciation Preschool until it’s closing. Her last passion was working at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry and had a winter giveaway for the needy and the homeless every fall. Her interests were going to the children’s activities, family get togethers, live entertainment, home improvement, reading, puzzles, swimming, rescuing dogs, traveling, and rooting for her beloved Chicago Cubs. She looked forward to making her pilgrimage to the “holy land,” Wrigley Field every year. She developed a love of nature and liked to look at the sky to see how God painted it that day. She wants everyone to give hugs, hold hands, and pats on the back or friendly smiles frequently. Also, tell everyone who helps them “thank you for your service” and when talking with those you love to make sure to tell them you love them.
In her earlier years she was a member of DECA and the Women’s Department Club. In her later years she was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Alpha Xi Delta, AFSCME (retired), RIPEA, and Wabash Valley Central Labor Council and its retiree’s club, and the Clay County Democrats.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Burt whom she always said, “He was the only man for me.” She was truly blessed and they spent their lifetime learning new things, the latest being astronomy. She had the privilege of helping raise her stepchildren; Michael (Christi) Burt, Rob (Marianne) Burt and Michelle Burt Criss, her grandchildren; Justin Burt, Christopher Cody (Chelsey) Burt, Madison (David) Chapman, Kendall (Cody) Brown, Grace (Alec) Courtney, Max (Madison) Burt, and Sophia Burt, Kaylee (Richie) Creasey, Alyssa Criss, Skylar (Torie) Long, Jordan Van Winkle, and Cheyenne Burt, along with 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sibling; Diane Robinson and sister-in-law Pam (Larry) Drake, nephews; Brandon (Tori) Robinson and their children, Chris (Melissa) Drake, her niece Lisa (Logan) Van Reed and their children, and her dog Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Gretchen Burt, grandsons Donald Criss II and Donald Criss III, brother-in-law Mike Robinson, and all her canine pets and rescues who passed before her.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Annunciation’s St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, or the Clay County Humane Society.
A Catholic Mass will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church, 19 N Alabama St, Brazil, IN 47834, on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11am with a 2-hour gathering prior to mass at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, where she loved to volunteer her time, 399 E. Church Street, Brazil, IN 47834 (across from the church). Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 N. Clinton St., Terre Haute, IN 47805 and will be a private moment for the family.
