Dorothy Pauline Allen

Dorothy P. Allen passed away February 21 after a long illness. She was born September 23, 1920 in Terre Haute to Emmett W. Eason and Helen Bradford Eason Sappington. She met and married Leonard C. Allen while working in Washington D.C. during WWII. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church. She worked in the War Department during WWII, at the Tumpane Company, and retired from CVS Drugstore in Terre Haute. Her hobbies were scrapbooks, genealogy research, and home making.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1999. Her survivors include sons Randy Allen (Cathy) of Dennison, IL, Perry Allen (Kathy Taylor) of Placerville, CA, grandchildren Cathy Jo Allen of West Terre Haute, Shannon Ford (Pete) of Toledo OH, Michael Allen (Peggy Sue) of Clinton, IN, Shannon Aballi (Nick) of Terre Haute, and Sally Lantz of Carlsbad, CA; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; sister Amy Gordon of Terre Haute, brothers John Sappington (Mitzi) of Dennison, IL, Samuel V. Sappington III (Nancy) of Menifee, CA and Arthur Sappington Sr. (Mary) of Terre Haute as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by longtime companion, John Paul Jones of Terre Haute, who was her constant companion and helper in her later years, bringing her much happiness and emotional security. Her loved ones are thankful to Kindred Southwood and Heart to Heart Hospice who provided excellent loving care during her illness. Services will be on Thursday at 1:00 at Highland Lawn Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating.
