Dorothy Mae VeVerka Hurst

Dorothy Mae Hurst, 95, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at Springhill Village in Terre Haute. She was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Newton, Iowa, to Lewis VeVerka and Frances Irene Hatcher VeVerka. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Bedwell, Sullivan, and Mary Frances Snow (Jack), Terre Haute; one stepdaughter, Susan Henderson, (Keith) Westminster, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Susan Snow, Robert Bedwell (Daisa), Steven Snow (Brandy), Todd Bedwell and Teresa Townley, Erin Morris (Rob) and Melissa Hurst; 10 great-grandchildren, Zachary Ryan Snow, Meaghan McFadden, Michaela McFadden, Sagane Snow, Kelsey Snow, Jeremy Bedwell (Jody), Justin Bedwell, Michael Bedwell, Caitlin Bedwell and Elizabeth Bedwell; three great-great-grandchildren, Cooper Edwards, Briggs Edwards and Blakelyn Edwards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond G. Hurst; her parents; her sister, Esther Gearhart; her brother, Junior VeVerka; stepson, Bob Hurst; son-in-law, Bob Bedwell; and her niece, Judi Warner. Dorothy was a machine operator for Quaker Maid in Terre Haute. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Sullivan. She was a beloved mother and an extremely hard worker all her life. She liked to crochet and read. She loved her family dearly and her daughter's dogs, Teddy Bear and Chrissy. Dorothy always had a smile on her face for everyone she met. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, IN 47805. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., prior to services Wednesday. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
