Obituary of Eloise Mae Cunningham
Eloise Mae Cunningham, age 91, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. Lou was born February 23, 1930 in Terre Haute to Walter Beecher and Cecil Conklin Beecher. She was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School, class of 1948, and retired from Pfizer with many years of service. Lou was preparing to celebrate one of her many 29th Birthdays. She was married to the love of her life, Darrell, for 65 years at the time of his passing. Darrell often told the story of standing in front of the drug store in 1947 with his brother, when two girls started walking towards them. The one with the dark hair was the "prettiest girl he'd ever seen". He knew at that moment that he was going to marry her. Her family always looked forward to holiday meals prepared by Lou, especially her unmatched homemade noodles, dressing, pies and delicate Christmas cookies. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were blessed knowing that Gran's / Grandma's house was a place of love and comfort; a place to feel safe and at home. She would also sew any item that needed her special touch. Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrell; son Guy, infant son Brian, sister Pearl Beecher, brother Jim Beecher, brother Rob Beecher, grandson Stevie Hiatt. Surviving are her children, Bonnie Hiatt and husband Steve, Bill Cunningham and wife Kathy, and Sandra Little; a sister, Dot St. John; grandchildren, Leslie, Butch, Trey, Tiffany, Tanner and Stephanie; and great grandchildren, Brady, Maddie, Davon, Seth, Tristain, Zoe and Avery; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of The Wyndmoor for the many years of care and the staff of Harrison's Crossing for the last few months. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 2 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials in Lou's name may be made to the Dementia Society of America. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net for the Cunningham family.
