

Floyd Edward Black, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Majestic Care, with his family by his side. He was born on February 6, 1939, in Terre Haute to Foster and Dorothy Irene (Myers) Black. He married Shirley Lindley on June 11, 1959.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Black of Terre Haute; children, Jeff Black of South Carolina and Sherri Lowery and companion Kelly Gallagher of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Emily Black of South Carolina, Mike Lowery and wife Ashlee of Terre Haute, and John Lowery Jr. and wife Allison of Indianapolis, Rachel Lowery and Grace Lowery, both of Indianapolis; a great-grandchild, Jaden Lowery of Terre Haute; brothers, Don Black and wife Mary Jo, and Jerry Black and wife Suzy, all of Terre Haute; brother-in-law, Jimmy Lindley and wife Carolyn of Dana; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Black.
Floyd was a 1956 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy. After working at Chesty Foods for several years, Floyd went to work and retired from Specialty Blanks. He was a member of the Richmond, Indiana Masonic Lodge. An avid outdoorsman, Floyd loved to go camping and fishing. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and his beloved dog, Max.
Floyd’s family would like to thank the staff at Majestic Care for the kindness and compassion shown to Floyd during his final days.
